Pregnant women are especially susceptible to malaria infection. Without existing immunity, severe malaria can develop requiring emergency treatment, and pregnancy loss is common
Pregnant women are particularly susceptible to malaria infection.
The consequences includes;
-Maternal anaemia
-Infant Low birth weight
-Coma in pregnancy
-Pregnancy loss
-stillbirth
Malaria in pregnancy can become life threatening
Symptom of Malaria generally includes;
-Nausea
-Headache.
-Diarrhea.
-Being very tired (fatigue)
-Body aches.
-Yellow skin (jaundice) from --losing red blood cells.
-Kidney failure.
Attending Antenatal can generally help pregnant women manage/prevent malaria where intermittent preventive treatment in pregnancy is administered
Use of Insecticide Net can also help prevent malaria
Early detection and treatment of malaria reduces the severity of the disease and prevents deaths of Pregnant women.
In conclusion, when a pregnant woman has fever, she is advised to visit the hospital immediately!!
